Directors of Oyala Thumotang Land Trust met in Weipa on 6 and 7 May 2014 to plan for the future of the land trust.

Vince Harrigan is a Traditional Owner and Ranger from Normanby Station in southern Cape York. The 31,400 acre property was returned to his family in the 1990s. The Harrigan brothers are caring for country and Vince says he can see Country becoming healthy again.

Mikayla Down and Wilfred Peter are Traditional Owners from Lama Lama Country, which hugs the northern coast of Princess Charlotte Bay on Cape York Peninsula.

The project involves the establishment of a native plant nursery at Chuulangun for the purpose of revegetating and stabilising degraded areas on the upper Wenlock River.

Low Lake is a very large native lagoon within Lakefield National Park, Cape York, which is a special, shared story place belonging to the Lama Lama and Kuku-Thaypan people. The site's perimeter outlined the boundaries to the clans and was a special ceremony area for men to dance.

This project aims to enable Kaanju people to develop an integrated and strategic approach to the management of weeds on traditional homelands.
